Hyperthyroidism is a condition that occurs when the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone, resulting in an overactive thyroid gland. It can lead to a variety of symptoms, such as weight loss, rapid heartbeat, anxiety, and irritability. Fortunately, there are several treatment options available to manage hyperthyroidism and alleviate its symptoms.

The treatment options for hyperthyroidism depend on the severity of the condition, the age of the patient, and any underlying health conditions. Some of the most common treatment options include:

Anti-thyroid medications: These medications, such as methimazole and propylthiouracil, work by blocking the production of thyroid hormones. They are often used as a first-line klinik tiroit for hyperthyroidism, especially in mild cases. However, they may take several weeks or even months to work, and some patients may experience side effects such as skin rash, joint pain, or upset stomach.

Radioactive iodine: This treatment involves taking a radioactive form of iodine, which is absorbed by the thyroid gland and destroys the overactive cells. Radioactive iodine is usually given as a single dose, and the patient may need to avoid close contact with others for a few days afterwards due to the radiation. This treatment is highly effective, with up to 90% of patients achieving normal thyroid function within several months. However, it can sometimes lead to hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid gland) and requires lifelong thyroid hormone replacement therapy.
